“Beginning with photographing Roseate Spoonbills in the wild; based on some tips from friends, I found over fifty pairs of nesting birds and obtained some of the best spoonbill pictures I could have ever hoped for. My friends Karen & Rick of Ambiance Photography took me out on their gorgeous, new pontoon boat early one morning around the coastal flats near Ft. Desoto State Park: and that’s where I came up with my tropical-looking background. I tried to give everything that warm sense of early morning sunlight, always keeping in mind the direction of light. I was truly honored that Mr. Sheridan and his wife Judy hired me to do this painting.” -Peter R. Gerbert
