“A bird that’s been on my ‘must paint list’ for some time now, the Eastern Phoebe is a remarkable and striking bird and part of the Flycatcher family. The branches and bird were built up with thick gesso and many layers of paint, actually creating a sculpted-look with three-dimensional depth. The background is countless layers of paint: what it takes to get a blurry-look without using an airbrush. ”    -Peter G

With thick-layers of gesso and paint to add three-dimensional depth, the artist's current goal is to go beyond photo-realism and actually capture realism: giving the viewer the impression that they might be able to visually enter the painting.
