north of Silver Lake on the Withlacoochee River, this Belted
Kingfisher remarkably remained perched as we floated by it
in my boat: Kingfishers usually take off right away making
them difficult to photograph. I was so inspired to be getting
close-up photographs of this bird with my 400mm lens; I shot
the whole background thinking that I'd want to do a painting.
A series of photographs were used for the background &
design, capturing the entire bend in the river and the half
moon rising. The sun was penetrating the tops of the tree-line
just before it began to set.”
